Piccolini

The youngest member of our choir family

Piccolini classes are for 4 and 5 year olds (for the 25/26 season, children born in 2020 and 2021). Piccolini is a training choir to develop musicianship and the foundations of music learning and performing. Piccolinis are small classes of up to 12 children, with lots of individual attention. The Piccolini singers do not perform onstage in the large scale VBFC concerts, but instead perform smaller lobby concerts at our family of choirs events, giving them a low-pressure, but exciting performance opportunity for their first years of choral singing.

Piccolini class curriculum has been specially deigned by Early Years specialists Rachel Suzanne and Gillian Hunter-Gibbs and for the 25/26 season, classes are led by singer and educator, Emma Verret. 

REHEARSALS

CLASSES START THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15

Our Piccolini classes have several different class options to choose from, including two separate locations. This helps us keep class sizes small and provide the best instruction. Singers choose one class to attend each week for the entire season. 

Tuesdays – 3:30-4:15 [FULL] or 4:30-5:15 [FULL]

Pacific Spirit United Church  (2195 W 45th Ave) in Kerrisdale

Wednesdays – 3:30-4:15 or 4:30-5:15

First Christian Reformed Church (2670 Victoria Dr) in East Van

Thursdays – 3:15-4:00   or   4:15-5:00  or   5:15-6:00

Good Centre for the Arts (3615 W 4th Ave) in Kitsilano

FEES

    Cost for the year is $602. The early bird fee is $582 if registered before June 30, 2025. The Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs has a robust bursary program to support families for whom the fee is a barrier. Please choose ” I’d like to apply for financial assistance” at the beginning of registration form and also select “send me a bursary application” in the fee section of your registration form if required.

    PLEASE NOTE: We try our best to accommodate requests for specific rehearsal venue and times, however we also need to balance our choirs in terms of enrolment numbers and vocal considerations. We appreciate your understanding!

    Tuition for 2025-26

    (For the 2025-2026 season, the tuition fees in the table below include the following fees: a $40 society membership fee, a $2 GST on membership fee, a $30 administration fee)

    Payment Methods
    1. Single payment by cheque, credit card, or e-transfer.
    2. Monthly payment by credit card instalments or post-dated cheques, due by Aug 15, 2025.

    Financial Assistance

    Financial assistance providing up to 90% of the tuition is available. Bursaries do not cover fundraising commitments, membership fees, and administration fees.

     

    Withdrawal Policy:
    Singers can withdraw at any time during the season.  Withdrawals before the end of September get a full refund for tuition (the membership & admin fees, GST, and fundraising commitments are non-refundable).  Withdrawals between October through January receive a pro-rated refund based on the classes attended.   Any withdrawals from February onward are not eligible for refunds.

    Late Fees:

    Payments that are not set-up or paid by August 15 are subject to a $20 late charge per month.
