Martin Renner Wallace did his undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria where he studied under the tutelage of Alexandra Browning Moore. In 2006 he was a member of the Pacific Opera Victoria’s Young Artist Program. That Summer Martin participated in the Okanagan Vocal Arts Festival. In 2008 he was invited to Banff to participate in their Opera as Theatre Program. Martin then attended the University of British Columbia and Graduated in 2010 with his Masters of Music in Opera. After Graduating he was accepted into the 2010/2011 Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program. In 2010 he was a district finalist for the Metropolitan Opera Nacional Council Auditions. Martin was a member of the inaugural Vancouver Opera Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program in 2012/2013.
Martin has performed as a soloist with groups such as: the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the University of Victoria Orchestra, The Sooke Philharmonic, The Cathedral Festival Orchestra, The Victoria Conservatory of Music Opera Studio, Pacific Opera Victoria, The Vancouver Academy of Music, Burnaby Lyric Opera, Calgary Opera, Calgary Civic Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Jeunesses Musical Canada and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.
His operatic roles include: Rodolfo “La Bohème,” Rinuccio “Gianni Schicchi,” Nanki-Poo “The Mikado,” Ralph Rackstraw “Pinafore,” The Duke “Rigoletto,” The Mayor “Albert Herring,” and Werther “Werther”.
