Edward Norman studied at the Royal College of Music, London, and later
with Hugh MacLean at the University of British Columbia. He has been active both in Canada and – until recently – in the US, and was for many years (as well as currently) organist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Bach Choir.
As a recitalist he has appeared widely in Canada, the USA and the UK, most recently at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff. He has performed in Poland, Germany and Japan and has appeared in the Vancouver International Festival, Fitzwilliam College at Cambridge, the Spoleto Festival in Charleston SC and the Janacek Festival in Tokyo with the YNSO. This year he performed at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff. Over the years he has been heard frequently on CBC radio as a recitalist and accompanist.
Ed has held major church music positions in the US and Canada including St.
John-the Divine, Victoria, St. John’s Anglican Church, Shaughnessy, First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, St. George’s Cathedral, Kingston, Ontario, and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Charleston SC. He is currently Organ Instructor at Trinity Western University. For ten years, Edward was also a music producer with CBC radio and continues as a freelance record producer.
Ed will appear with the VBC for our Duruflé and Bernstein concert and Christmas with the Bach Choir.
