St. Andrew's Wesley | MAP
Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, and with influence from Bach’s St Matthew Passion, The Little Match Girl Passion composed by David Lang, was first performed in 2007 at Carnegie Hall.
Join the Vancouver Bach Choir, along with an SATB quartet of solo singers from within the choir for this moving piece of music.
To complete the program, Redshift Music partners with the VBFC to present the powerful Gavin Bryars work Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet, based on a loop of an unknown homeless man singing an improvised melody. Using the space and beautiful acoustics of St Andrew’s Wesley church, this promises to be an unforgettable and moving event.
This is a pay-what-you-can event. Net proceeds will be donated to the Vancouver Food Bank.
We will be joined by Rob Hunter of Oakwyn Realty who will be collecting goods for Covenant House. Canned goods, new toiletries or clothing can be dropped off in the lobby before the show.
